Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 released

Microsoft Corp. have announced the release of Dynamics NAV 2016 on October 5, 2015.

What may seem like a facelift at first glance for not including any fundamental overhauls or new user-visible technologies compared to NAV 2015, Microsoft have actually done a great job to push Dynamics NAV in the position of an much-inclusive business solution.

In fact, what we used to call an ERP package traditionally, has now gradually extended way above the definition, and includes a variety of features desired not to merely cover the ERP part, but to actually drive your business on the platform.

Among the new features around ERP there is an improved Dynamics CRM integration, support for Azure SQL, much improved Client App for tablets and phones, document OCR service, e-invoicing, and support for workflows. Also attributable to NAV 2016 - it is now understood by Power BI, the new business intelligence offering from Microsoft.

Finance department will appreciate the much-anticipated Posting Preview feature and deferrals coming as standard now, as well as standard interfaces for exchanging data with banks and downloading currency rates.

The full announcement by Wayne Morris, Corporate VP, MBS Marketing.

But for us probably the biggest news is this - with NAV 2016 you can extend the system by installing partner developed Extensions without development effort during the installation.

Is Dynamics NAV App-store the next step? We definitely hope so.
